Letter from the Director
The goal of the College Office is to support, inform, and encourage students and their families as they navigate the exciting, complex, and ever-changing process of college admissions. We educate students and families about the nuances of admission, advise students about appropriate and interesting college options that best suit their needs, and support students as they successfully complete the applications process.
While students are not formally assigned college advisers until the Fifth Form year, their preparation begins in the Third and Fourth Form years with general information provided in class meetings. During this time we emphasize the importance of making their high school careers meaningful and substantive, not only in the classroom, but also in the dormitories, on the field, on stage, or on a multi-pitch climb.
When we begin work with the Fifth Formers, many of the building blocks of their applications have already been laid. Through a series of group and individual sessions on the college admission process, we help students assess their interests, discuss career goals, weigh the importance of factors such as location, cost, size, and extra-curricular activities, and gain a sense of the range of selectivity a student should have in mind in his or her research of colleges. Together we identify the many schools that fit their individual profiles and interests.
In this section of the website, you'll find a calendar of events and test dates, access to Naviance's Family Connection (a resource available to both students and parents) as well as resources for college topics, including search programs, financial aid, standardized testing, and summer programs for high school students. We hope that you will make use of the information posted on this website and within Naviance.
We welcome discussions with families, so please don't hesitate to contact us at any time.
Warm regards,
Leah Lambert
