Asheville School junior Abby Kriegler is in Knoxville, Tennessee to compete in the 2017 Speedo Winter Junior Championships held by USA Swimming. The prestigious competition hosts some of the nation's best up-and-coming swimmers and takes place from December 6 to 9 at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center.
"We are very proud of Abby for this extraordinary accomplishment," said Asheville School Athletic Director Carl Boland. "She trained exceptionally hard to qualify for this event, and we wish her all the best this weekend."
Kriegler swims with both the Blues and with Asheville Swim Club, and this marks the third time she has traveled to Junior Nationals. This year she will swim in the 400 IM, the 500 Free, the 1650 Free and on the 800 Free Relay.
Her father, Frank Kriegler, is an avid swimmer himself and coaches Asheville School's swim team. "I am very proud of Abby," he said. "She trains hard, and she is very focused in the pool. Abby's skill and expertise in swimming is beyond my ability, and her accomplishments are all due to her dedication and determination."
