Kechelle Robinson 2017 Signs to Newberry College
Kechelle Robinson 2017 Signs to Newberry College

Asheville School Senior Kechelle Robinson has signed to play field hockey at Newberry College in Newberry, South Carolina. Robinson will join the Division II team after playing only two seasons of field hockey during her high school career.

"Kechelle was our Outstanding Player in both her first and second year of play as a junior and senior," said Varsity Field Hockey Coach Chapman Davis. "She combined her speed and anticipation skills from soccer with her above average hand-eye coordination from club softball and quickly became a formidable scorer on our hockey team. She led the team in goals in both seasons she played Varsity."

Robinson is thrilled to sign with the team and grateful to her coaches for introducing her to Newberry College. "I don't have as much experience as a lot of other players, so I wasn't expecting to get to play on this kind of team," Robinson said. "It is an amazing opportunity, and I am really excited to play at this level."

"It is an amazing accomplishment that she will be able to play at the Division II level next year after only playing for two seasons and one club season," Davis said. "Coach Beam and I are really proud of Kechelle and her competitive drive and determination as a player. Most importantly, she has competitive maturity and demonstrates sportsmanship and class in every situation she encounters on the field. We can't wait to watch her play!"

Robinson says that she will be a forward for Newberry's team. She looks forward both to playing field hockey at the college level and to majoring in psychology.
