Asheville School requires all students to participate in either athletics or arts as part of our afternoon activities program. Freshman and sophomores must play on one interscholastic team during the year. The upper grades have no specific interscholastic requirement. Yet, in any given year, more than 75% of our students choose to play at least one team sport.

The reason is simple: We offer an unbelievable number of sports for a school our size. With the help of a seasoned coaching staff, we can find an activity to suit the skill level and interest of every student. Above all, our program emphasizes good sportsmanship, both on and off the field. At the same time, we like to win and produce very competitive teams.

Asheville School has enjoyed a long tradition of distinction as a member of the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association and the Carolina Athletic Association. Our already exceptional sports facilities will soon include a brand new fitness center and wrestling room.

Life Fitness
In addition to the interscholastic team sport offerings (see team listings in the drop-menu above), our Athletic Department also sponsors a strength and agility training program for any student who wishes to develop his or her overall fitness and health. This program is offered each season, though space is limited.
