Commitment to Excellence
As a faculty, we work in a culture committed to excellence and high achievement. It informs all that we do. We seek faculty with strong grounding in their disciplines who are also open to new ideas and pedagogical techniques.
Bright Students and Professional Colleagues
Work environment plays a vital role in job satisfaction. It's no small advantage to work with people you can respect, and our faculty are distinguished by their uncommon dedication to teaching, inside and outside the classroom. Our students, selected through a competitive admission process, have goals for themselves and truly want to learn.
Most teachers have their own classrooms which double as offices. Every classroom is outfitted with at least one networked computer and most have state-of-the-art projection equipment. Our 300-acre campus features top-flight facilities. Many of our buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Since most faculty and administrators live, as well as work, on campus, the School is a neighborhood. This provides all kinds of unexpected fringe benefits like an available pool of babysitters, community activities, and the free use of our facilities to faculty and their families. This includes the library, athletic center, track, etc.. There is a great feeling of support and kinship within the community.
The Asheville Area
Asheville a great place to raise a family. It offers countless opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast as well as the connoisseur of art and culture. The area has good elementary and high schools, as well as a number of excellent private school options. The University of North Carolina-Asheville, a well-regarded liberal arts college, is only 7 miles from campus. Asheville also has a lower cost of living than most urban areas.
