Biography

James Pharr

James first arrived at Asheville School as a third former in the fall of 1993. For the next four years, he lived on 2nd Anderson, wrote for the Ashnoca, and played football, basketball, and tennis. After graduation, James spent a post-graduate year of study at Fettes College in Edinburgh, Scotland. Subsequently, he majored in English, wrote articles and drew editorial cartoons for the Daily Tar Heel, and played more than a few games of ultimate Frisbee at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Some of James’ best summers were spent attending and working at various summer camps including Camp Falling Creek, Camp Dudley, and Camp Wayfarer. James loves reading, travel, and homegrown tomatoes. He lives on campus with his wife, Lindsay; children Hazel and Theo; and beagle, Sally.
