Three Asheville School Student Athletes Sign To Play College Football

Three Asheville School football players signed this week to play football at the collegiate level. Running back Malik Risher and quarterback Chad Koehler will play as teammates next year at Presbyterian College, while linebacker Mike Schill has committed to play at The University of the South: Sewanee.

"This is great news," said Roger Harris, head football coach at Asheville School. "This means our program is doing the right things and it's getting the word out about Asheville School football. Colleges are starting to visit campus now, and they are very interested in our program."

Risher compiled 1700 yards rushing and 18 touchdowns during his senior season. He and Koehler led the Blues (9-3) to the best playoff finish in school history by reaching the NCISAA Division II championship game.

Next year, Asheville School returns several players who will have a chance to play college ball if they continue to work hard, Harris said.

"We have some good young football players that will have an opportunity to play at the next level," he said.
