	There is a new addition to this year’s closing weeks: we are in a challenge with our rival, Christ School. The Blues and the Greenies are facing off to see which school can receive more annual fund donations between May 15 and June 30. This challenge is open to all alumni, parents, and friends who <strong>have not</strong> made a Cody Annual Fund gift this fiscal year.</p>

	In a downpour of rain, students and faculty members competed in the Mini Mud Run at the Woodfin YMCA on May 5.  According to the YMCA of Western North Carolina, the obstacles included a 1-mile run, followed by an army mud crawl, mud hill climb, trail run, mind teaser, hay bale hurdles, tire agility, mud pit and more. </p>

	This winter, the Asheville School Board of Trustees voted to honor former Assistant Headmaster for External Affairs, Raymond G. Cruitt, with the school's Award of Merit – the highest honor the School bestows. Ray will be presented the Award of Merit on Saturday night of Alumni Weekend, April 28, 2012.</p>

Shiver pinned Charlotte Latin’s Toby Okwara within 1 minute and 15 seconds into this afternoon’s finals to claim the state championship title. During the two-day NCISAA wrestling tournament at Charlotte Country Day, Shiver pinned all four of his opponents.</p>

	Asheville School students were greeted by an archway of blue and white balloons in the dining hall this week - kicking off Girls’ Sports Day, an annual celebration of Asheville School’s female athletes. First organized in 1990, Girls’ Sports Day has grown into an enthusiastic weeklong event honoring female sports teams, including all Asheville School girls participating in mountaineering and equestrian.</p>

	It took 46 days, 11 hours and 20 minutes for Jennifer Pharr Davis '01 to finish her thru-hike of the 2,181 mile Appalachian Trail in record time - a record that she now holds outright after setting the women's record in 2008.</p>

	Pharr Davis '01, of Asheville, set the record for the fastest thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail after Sunday's climb to the summit of Springer Mountain in Georgia. The previous record holder, Andrew Thompson, set the record in 2005 after finishing in 47 days, 13 hours and 31 minutes.</p>

<p>During the spring dance recital on May 12 and 13, the creativity of  costumes and set design complimented the extraordinary choreography of  the circus-themed recital.
