On Friday, June 8, the Board of Trustees announced the appointment of Dr. Anthony H. Sgro as Asheville School's ninth head of school, effective July 1, 2019. Sgro is a 1984 graduate of Asheville School and has worked as the head of Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School since 2011.

Following a thorough, thoughtful, and deliberative process, Asheville School's Search Committee has voted unanimously to engage Carney Sandoe and Associates (CS&A) as the Search Consultants for the Head of School Search. CS&A is the nation's largest and, arguably, most recognized education search firm.
Arch Montgomery announced in January of 2017 that he and his wife Phyllis would conclude their tenure at Asheville School on June 30, 2019.
