Asheville School Hosts October 26 Art Opening

On Wednesday, October 26 Asheville School will host an art opening featuring work by Hannah Seng and Elizabeth Porritt Carrington. Their show is titled "Obair na Mban" (pronounced OB-er na MON), which translates to "Women's Work."

Seng and Porritt Carrington were first connected by their love of Ireland, and they soon discovered they also shared an affinity for the practice and process of painting. Both artists are compelled to work directly from nature—they draw meaning and replenishment from time spent outdoors. That inspiration is evident on their canvases, where the natural world is represented through bold colors, whimsy and imagination.

The artists will attend the opening, which will be in Asheville School's John M. Crawford Gallery on Wednesday, October 26 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The evening will also feature live music: Hanna Seng will play original and traditional songs of Appalachia and the British Isles. The event is free and open to the public, and light hors d'oeuvres will be served.

Directions to Asheville School are here. For any questions contact John M. Crawford Gallery Curator Casey Arbor at (828) 254 6345 ext. 4037.
