Asheville School seniors Heath Chase, Jennifer Fish, Grayson Sword and Stefan Yu have been recognized as Commended Students in the National Merit Scholarship Program.
They are four of about 34,000 students across the nation who are recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NSMC) for their outstanding academic promise.
"The young men and women being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success," commented a spokesperson for NMSC. "These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their school plays in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success."
While Commended Students do not continue in the 2019 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, they placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million students who are eligible for National Merit Scholarships.
In September, Asheville School announced three seniors who NMSC named as Semifinalists for National Merit Scholarship awards. Congratulations to all of Asheville School's Semifinalists and Commended Students!
