On May 2, the Asheville School girls soccer team defeated Asheville Christian Academy (ACA) 5-1 to win the CAA Championship. This marks the first time the Blues have won the conference since 2014.
Now the girls soccer team, along with the Blues boys and girls lacrosse teams and the boys tennis team, will advance to the NCISAA state playoffs.
Blues soccer will host Concord First Assembly in the first round of NCISAA 3A state playoffs on Tuesday, May 7 at 4:30 p.m.
The Blues girls lacrosse team earned the no. 8 seed in the NCISAA state tournament. They will face off against Davidson Day at home at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7.
After a great season, the boys lacrosse team earned the no. 4 seed in the NCISAA Division II playoffs. They will play no. 5 Davidson Day at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 10.
The boys tennis team will also see their first state tournament game on Friday, May 10. After a first-round bye, their 4:30 p.m. game will be against the winner of an earlier match between Forsyth Country Day School and Gaston Christian.
Asheville School Athletic Director Carl Boland is proud of each team's hard work this season. "Congratulations to our coaches and players in soccer, tennis, boys lacrosse and girls lacrosse for earning the right to participate in the NCISAA playoffs," Boland said. "Each of these teams have competed at a high level and achieved winning records this spring. I wish them all the best as they compete for a state championship!"
