Boys Varsity Soccer 2019 State Playoff Game

Play loose, have fun. This was the pregame mantra imparted upon the boys’ soccer team by Coaches Mettee and O’Brien before the team’s first round playoff game against Caldwell Academy. The free-and-easy mentality paid dividends, as the Blues thrashed the visiting Eagles, 5-1 to advance to the second round.

Asheville School announced on October 15 that it will reestablish a golf program for boys in the spring of 2020 and for girls in the fall of 2020.

In making this announcement, Head of School Dr. Anthony Sgro said, “I am very excited that we will be reintroducing golf to the Asheville School community as a Varsity sport. We look forward to seeing the team strengthen in the coming years. I want us to have a very competitive program that will be highly successful at the conference and state levels.”

Boys Soccer

Coming off their first loss of the season on Friday at Gaston Christian, Asheville School boys soccer faced a quick turnaround in preparing for a Saturday date with Hickory Grove Christian. Whatever fatigue the Blues were feeling in the latter half of the back-to-back was masqueraded by another prolific offensive outpouring and an 8-2 victory over the visiting Lions.
