What are your favorite hobbies?
I enjoy watching and playing basketball. During my free time I am generally doing something sport related (from golf to football to soccer in addition to basketball). I also enjoy fishing, hiking, exercising, traveling, and exploring the Asheville area.
What is the most inspiring part of your job?
Seeing kids grow and evolve. Seeing my advisees grow into young adults after meeting them as 13-14 year olds. Seeing my students grow over the course of the year and mastering material that baffled them when it was introduced. Seeing my players grow individually and as a team and experience success on the court. These things make this job truly special.
What is the most important thing you learned before high school?
A little imagination can go a long way. Don't be afraid to color outside the lines a little.
If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be?
Time travel would be pretty great. So would shapeshifting.
