Family & Friends Weekend

We are thrilled to welcome families back to Asheville School for Family & Friends Weekend on September 27-28, 2024. This special weekend is an opportunity to connect with the community, share in your student’s experience, and create lasting memories together on our beautiful campus. We hope you will join us to sit in on mini classes, connect with faculty and advisors, and cheer on the Blues!

Friday, September 27 | All Family & Friends Weekend Events for Friday are Cancelled Due to Inclement Weather

Buffet Dinner
Location: Sharp Dining Hall

Boarding students may leave campus for dinner on Friday night with their families or their friend's families so long as proper permissions are in place.

Boarding students must leave with an adult only. Boarders are not allowed to leave campus with day student drivers.

Boarding students are to be back on dorm on Friday night by 9:30 p.m. for evening check in their common rooms.

School Store
Stop by to shop for an array of Asheville School gear and supplies. The School Store hours for Family & Friends Weekend are Friday from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m . –  2:00 p.m. The School Store is located in the Tyrer Student Center.

Directions & Parking
The School is located at 360 Asheville School Road, in Asheville, NC, about 15 minutes southwest of downtown and about 25 minutes northwest of the airport.  At our main entrance, you will be welcomed at the gatehouse and provided with a campus map.

Take note: GPS may misdirect you to our service entrance, which does not provide access to the campus. From the service entrance, the main entrance to campus is the next driveway to the northeast (0.3 miles) along the main road.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, Family & Friends Weekend is a school community weekend; however, the school is making leave exceptions for boarders due to the modified schedule.

  • UPDATE: Boarding students may leave campus for dinner on Friday night with their families or their friend’s families so long as proper permissions are in place.
    • Note: On Friday night, boarding students must leave with an adult only. Boarders are not allowed to leave campus with day student drivers.
  • UPDATE: Boarding students are to be back on dorm on Friday night by 9:30 p.m. for evening check in their common rooms.
  • On Saturday, there will be a 1:00 p.m. check for boarding students, which will be taken as students load the bus for the Asheville School vs. Christ School Varsity Football game.
  • Students can begin to sign out after the football game on Saturday. A member of the Student Life Office will have a table set up at the football game to check students out. Students are only permitted to leave the game with a day student if they are signing out for a weekend leave, otherwise they are to return to campus on school provided transportation.
    • Students with proper permissions in place can sign out with their family or other families.
  • Boarding students can stay off campus with their family or other families for the evening on Saturday so long as proper permissions are in place.
  • All boarding students on a weekend leave must return to campus by 8:00 p.m. on Sunday for study hall.

UPDATE: Due to the modified schedule, boarding students and families can leave campus for dinner on Friday night. The Sharp Dining Hall will be open from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. for students and families to dine on campus.

You will receive a copy of your child’s academic schedule at check-in. We invite you to attend these 20 minute class sessions with your student’s faculty. The mini class schedule for the day is:

  • 8:30 – 8:50 a.m. | A Period
  • 9:00 – 9:20 a.m. | B Period
  • 9:30 – 9:50 a.m. | C Period
  • 10:00 – 10:20 a.m. | D Period
  • 10:30 – 10:50 a.m. | E Period
  • 11:00 – 11:20 a.m. | F Period
  • 11:30 – 11:50 a.m. | G Period

Advisors will contact parents directly to set-up one-on-one meetings during the weekend.

The Director of our Learning Center, Mr. Matt Stark, and Learning Center Staff, Mr. Nelson Boachie-Yiadom and Mr. Cal Shelton, will be available in Mitchell 310 throughout the mini class sessions on Saturday, September 28 if you’d like to speak with them about the Learning Center’s services, which are available to all students.
