The Admissions Process

What you need to know

We are so excited that you are interested in joining the Asheville School community. Here, you should find everything you need to get started. Should you have additional questions or need assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to our admissions team.

Step 1:

Inquire, Visit, & Interview

Get started by filling out our inquiry form and then we will contact you to schedule a virtual or in-person visit.

U.S. Students

Student-led campus tour Classroom visit, meeting with faculty/coaches (if requested) Student interview with an Admission officer Parent interview with an Admission officer

International Students

On-campus or virtual interview Candidates from China are required to first interview through Vericant

Step 2:

Schedule Testing, if Required

We highly recommend families take advantage of exploring our campus, either in-person or virtually. Complete our inquiry form or contact us at [email protected] or 828-254-6345 x4022 to schedule a visit.

U.S. Students

SSAT (optional)

Our SSAT School Code is 1396

If you have taken a standardized test other than the SSAT and wish to submit that score, we may be able to accept it for your application. Contact our office before you schedule your SSAT.

International Students

SSAT (required) TOEFL OR Duolingo (required)

Our SSAT School Code is 1396

Our TOEFL School Code is C496

International students must submit results from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Accepted students typically score between 90 and 110 on the TOEFL IBT. Students should be sure to indicate that a copy of your scores be sent to Asheville School with code C496. If the TOEFL is not available, you may submit the results from a Duolingo test.

Step 3:

Start Your Application

Choose either the Asheville School Application OR the Standard Application Online (SAO).

Application Fee:

U.S. students: $60 International students: $110

Required Supplementary Materials Include:

Recommendations from an English teacher and a math teacher Grades from current school (full academic transcript required upon enrollment)

Apply Early Decision

If you have already decided that Asheville School is your first choice or you're an International student, Early Decision is a good option for you. With an Early Decision, acceptance is binding—applicants who are accepted agree to enroll at Asheville School and withdraw all applications to other schools.

Deadline to apply: December 10
Notification of acceptance by: January 10
