This fall, the Asheville School Fine Arts Department is producing Tom Stoppard’s modern dramatic masterpiece, “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead.” The comedy follows two minor characters from Shakespeare’s “Hamlet,” Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, and tells the story of “Hamlet” from their point of view.
According to Samuel French, the company that publishes the Tony Award winning play, “this Shakespearean Laurel and Hardy finally get a chance to take the lead role, but do so in a world where echoes of Waiting for Godot resound, where reality and illusion intermix, and where fate leads our two heroes to a tragic but inevitable end.”
“Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead” will debut in Asheville School’s Graham Theater on Thursday, October 24, at 7:15 p.m. It will also show Friday, October 25, at 7:15 p.m. and Saturday, October 26, at 6 p.m.
