Blues JV Boys’ Basketball Secures Convincing 69-31 Win

In the second half of a back-to-back home stand, the JV boys’ basketball team notched a convincing 69-31 win over IC Imagine on Saturday. The win pushed the Blues to 2-4 on the season heading into holiday break.

The Blues clung to a 13-10 lead after the first quarter, and led just 27-15 at the half before blowing the game open in the second half. Freshman Taylor Kuehn led the way for the Blues with 17 points while sophomores Luke Hernandez and Aniedo Udoh added 16 and 15 points, respectively.

“We came out very flat, but hit our offensive stride in the second half,” said coach Jarrett Van Meter. “Aniedo had a breakout game on the offensive end, and Luke is finally thinking like a scorer. Lucas Allen has been our team’s best defender all season and he led the way for us on that end of the court. I challenged them to cut down on passing turnovers after our loss on Friday and only push the ball in transition off the bounce, and they did.”

It was the final game for the JV boys until students return to school in January. The team will face three consecutive conference foes upon resuming play in the new year.

“I’m glad the guys got to experience the feeling of the offense clicking,” said Van Meter. “We still have a lot of work to do, but they earned the win and it’s a good note to head into break on.”
