John M. Crawford, Jr. Gallery Hosts Studio Art I Exhibition

Beginning on Thursday, September 19, work by Asheville School Studio Art I students will hang in the John M. Crawford, Jr. Gallery. Art Instructor and John M. Crawford, Jr. Gallery Curator Casey Arbor says that this is a fantastic collection of work that addresses a wide variety of subjects.

Studio Art I is integrated into Asheville School’s humanities curriculum, and themes of the class parallel the subjects learned in World Studies. This exhibition features West African inspired clay masks, Indian inspired self-portraits, Chinese inspired landscapes and more.

Arbor says this exhibit speaks to the artistic growth of her students. “Students in Studio Art I may have never created artwork in their lives,” she said. “This exhibition gives them the opportunity to have their progress featured and celebrated.”

Be sure to stop by the John M. Crawford, Jr. Art Gallery between September 19 and November 1 to see the exhibition. Regular gallery hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. See a preview of work from the show here.
