Asheville School student athletes were honored during the Fall Athletic Convocation in the Graham Theater on Tuesday morning, November 12. Student varsity letter winners, Valier/Outstanding recipients, and all-conference and all-state athletes were recognized from the fall athletic season. The Valier/Outstanding award recipients were Thomas Good ’20 (2019 Valier Award in Football), Lauren Hettleman ’22 (2019 Outstanding in Volleyball), Satchel McCutchen ’21 (2019 David Joseph Sielewicz Award in Boys’ Cross Country), Vivian Gregory ’21 (2019 W. Earl Mitchelle Award in Girls’ Cross Country), Mecca Morrison ’21(2019 Outstanding in Field Hockey), Declan Mettee ’21 (2019 Louis A. Valier Award in Boys’ Soccer), and Anna Bernstein ’20 (2019 Outstanding in Girls’ Tennis).
Those honored for All-Conference included Thomas Good ’20, Zach Drendel ’20, and Richard Viso ’20 for Football (NCISAA Western Conference); Declan Mettee ’21 and Cabot Thomasson-Croll ’20 for Soccer (CAA); Anna Bernstein ’20 and Gracey Abernethy ’23 for Girls Tennis (CAA); and Lauren Hettlman ’22 for Volleyball (CAA). Students honored for All-State were Anna Bernstein ’20 (Girls Tennis: 2019 NCISAA 3A All-State), Declan Mettee ’21 (Boys Soccer: 2019 NCISAA 3A All-State), Satchel McCutchen ’21 (Boys Cross Country: 2019 NCISAA 3A All-State), and Mecca Morrison ’21 (Field Hockey: 2019 All-State).
