Students Featured in Mountain Xpress Kids Issues

If you opened the recent Mountain Xpress Kids Issues, then you’d recognize some familiar Asheville School names throughout the publications.

We are delighted that our art students responded to the theme of beauty interwoven in both issues through diverse angles. Art Students Yauxuan Wen ’22, Jaihn Lee ’24, Scarlett McCarroll ’24, Lilly Burkley ’22 submitted their creative works that spoke to beauty – both its simplicity and presence in the community. Their artwork is profound and personal.

You’ll also discover an editorial featuring Asheville School’s Service Program and our connection to the program, Youthful HAND. Service Students receive instruction and guidance from Ms. Elinor Earle while tutoring at Hillcrest Headstart Community Center. Ms. Earle’s passion for bridging the academic achievement gap is unwavering. Our students discover the transformative power of sustained and supportive relationships by working one-on-one with youth at the after-school program.

We invite you read both of the publications to learn about beauty, community, and connection through the lens of kids and young adults in the Asheville-area. You can access the full features below.
