On Thursday, May 16, Asheville School will showcase students' work in fine arts with the Spring Concert, the John M. Crawford Art Gallery exhibit of studio art, and the Fine Arts and Letters Banquet.
John M. Crawford Art Gallery
Curated by Asheville School Art Teacher Casey Arbor, the John M. Crawford Art Gallery hosts four exhibits by professional artists and two student exhibits per school year.
The John M. Crawford 1933 Art Gallery is a memorial to a man who dedicated his life to the arts and who remained devoted to Asheville School. Mr. Crawford was a prominent collector of Chinese calligraphy and painting, and he was a trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
On Thursday, March 21, Asheville School will welcome photographers Amy and Mike Clarke for the opening of their exhibit, "Visions of America: A Portfolio of Photographs Celebrating WPA Era Art and Artists of the 1930s and 1940s."
Join Asheville artist Joseph Pearson and the Asheville School Fine Arts Department for the opening reception of "Thoughts on the Times: Reflections on Today's Current of Racial Injustice and Violence in America," on Thursday, January 10, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Walker Art Center's John M. Crawford Art Gallery.
On November 8, Asheville School will welcome Asheville Artist Patti Anastasi for a solo exhibition of her work. "Eccentric Archetypes" features Anastasi's mixed media portraits of characters, each imbued with their own personalities.
