Online Placement Tests

These resources are for new students enrolling at Asheville School for the 2022-2023 academic year. Please remember that we expect you to complete these assessments without any help or external resources.

Math Placement

Algebra I / Math 1 -- If you have completed an Algebra I (Math 1) course, you'll take this placement test to demonstrate your mastery of that foundational material. You'll have 75 minutes to complete this assessment (though it may take less time). Please plan to complete this test in ONE SITTING - there is NOT an option to "save" and return later to complete the assessment. You will NOT be allowed to use a calculator for this assessment.

Algebra II / Math 2 or 3 -- If you have completed an Algebra II (Math 2 or 3) course, you'll take this placement test to demonstrate your mastery of that more advanced material. You'll have 75 minutes to complete this assessment (though it may take less time). Please plan to complete this test in ONE SITTING - there is NOT an option to "save" and return later to complete the assessment. You WILL be allowed to use a calculator for this assessment.

Language Placement

First Year Language Preference -- If you have not had any previous experience with Spanish or French (or if you want to re-take the first year of either course to improve your mastery), use this link to indicate your preference for either Spanish I or French I:

Spanish Placement Assessment -- If you have studied Spanish previously at any level, please complete this form to help us determine the level within Asheville School's Spanish curriculum where you'll be most successful.  Please complete this online placement test accurately and honestly. It is our expectation that you will finish it in less than ONE HOUR and that you will work alone, without help or aid from your parents, other friends or family, textbooks, or any type of dictionary or translator (including, but not limited to, ONLINE resources such as Google Translate). Please make every effort to complete as many questions as possible.

The object of this test is to place you in the level of Spanish where you are going to have the best chance to succeed. Outside help of any kind will only result in your placement in a class above your skill level, which will result in stress and disruptions to your schedule in September.

French Placement Assessment -- If you have studied French previously at any level, please complete this form to help us determine the level within Asheville School's French curriculum where you'll be most successful.  Please complete this online placement test accurately and honestly.
