Each year, the President and Secretary of the Asheville School Cum Laude Society present membership to the members of the graduating class who have earned distinguished academic records during their high school careers.
Asheville School's chapter of the society was established in 1906 to promote learning and sound scholarship and to recognize scholars of preeminent ability, industry and character. During the 2018 Commencement Ceremony, the chapter honored the 14 seniors who became members:
Lillie Bridges, Kate Cavanaugh, John Delaloye, Robert Harlan, Evan Kim, Kate McLemore, Eleanor McRae, Nina Mendoza, Fahad Mohammed, Toma Nikotina, John Michael Selser, Mac Waters, Sapphire Zhang and David Zheng.
Asheville School President of the Cum Laude Society James Pharr 1997 welcomed the newest members. "This Society is a fellowship of scholars whose purpose is to recognize excellence in academic work," he said. "As you pursue your education, it is our hope that you will accept the honor of membership in this Society as a responsibility to make a contribution to the ongoing search for greater understanding of humanity and society."
Join us in congratulating these graduates on their hard work and scholarship!
