Asheville School Athletics

Welcome, and thank you for your interest in Athletics at Asheville School! We have a long and rich tradition of competitive interscholastic athletics that features 20 varsity sports and several sub-varsity teams. Our program has the capacity to meet the needs of both novice athletes and as well as those striving to play at the next level.

Athletics is an integral part of the student experience at Asheville School with 75% of our student body choosing to participate in our athletic programs. All of our head varsity coaches are full-time faculty members on our campus. In addition to being master teachers, many of our coaches have experience playing or coaching at the collegiate level.

We design our programming around three core standards: commitment, teamwork, and sportsmanship, and we are committed to the development of scholar-athletes. Athletes at Asheville School are expected to strive for excellence in both in the classroom and in interscholastic competition, and we believe that our athletes leave here with the tools to achieve success anywhere.

Asheville School competes in the North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association (NCISAA) and in the Carolina Athletic Association (CAA). Our programs are perennial powers in our conference, and our teams have won 28 NCISAA state championships since the league was founded in the 1970’s.

Our athletic facilities are among the finest in the region. We most recently completed the construction of McNaughton Stadium which features a multi-purpose turf field, six-lane track, field lighting, and stadium seating. We also offer a comprehensive sports medicine program that is staffed by two certified athletic trainers and a certified strength and conditioning specialists.
